Jack’s Gastropub Triples Its Beer Selection

On Saturday, March 17th Jack’s Gastropub in Kingsville, Ontario will launch its new craft beer menu. The menu, which officially launches on St. Patrick’s Day, will introduce a beer line-up consisting of over 25 new craft beer bottles and six new draughts on tap.

Craft Beer continues to grow in popularity throughout Ontario. “We’re getting more and more requests each and every day for new beers. We’re seeing people looking for a little variety instead of what they’re used to finding at most establishments,” says Trevor Loop, owner & operator of Jack’s Gastropub.

In addition, last year Jack’s introduced a “beer club” which has seen tremendous growth in popularity. Loop adds, “we’ve sold out every beer club since we started, and now have a waiting list each and every month. By tripling the number of beers we carry, we are giving our valued customers the opportunity to explore a variety of amazing new beers they might not find elsewhere.”

Jack’s Gastropub says they won’t entirely exclude domestic beers, but will make a concerted effort to focus primarily on the unique craft beers available. Loop says, “for years there has been resistance to the craft beer movement and to us introducing new crafts to our lineup. People have always wanted the typical Blue, Coors, OV, etc. but now the tide has changed. People have learned of a higher quality product and they want their favorite pubs to carry those products.”

Jack’s is no stranger to leading the pack. Years ago, Jack’s became the first restaurant in Windsor & Essex county to carry only wines from the region. “We encountered the same type of resistance then, and in the end, our customers appreciated the move and become more loyal because of it.”

While the kitchen at Jack’s will be preparing interesting features to complement the new beers, the servers at Jack’s have also undergone training on the various styles and tasting notes and are always willing to make pairing recommendations.

I shouldn’t’ really be blogging about this, but there’s something I need to talk to you about.

There’s something going around here. Let’s just say, there’s been a bit of buzz in the air and some weird things going on.

Normally, I wouldn’t think anything of it, but this morning I walked in to Jack’s and saw twelve monkeys playing Blackjack. There they were, smoking cigars, giggling, and flipping cards.

OK… Fine… Still not that bizarre….

But there was one monkey, and hand after hand he was hitting blackjack!! Every time… 21….21.. 21……21. He was the luckiest fella I’d ever seen! I even snapped a picture of him.

Anyways, that’s all I can say for now. Watch your email tomorrow morning at around 9am for a very important message. Trust me, you’re not going to want to miss this.

Jack’s is excited to announce the Butcher’s Dinner Series with Local Butcher, Jamie Waldron.
Our first series is scheduled for Monday, February 27th and at 7PM we’re taking reservations now.

Why are we hosting these dinners?

Because we’re interested in serving Jack’s customers the highest quality local meats, but also educating our customers on the importance of supporting local farmers, and that means knowing the source of your meat, and the care that’s gone into butchering it.

And of course, we’re always up for a good time.

Enter Jamie Waldron.

Jamie is a local butcher who’s determined to bring the people of Windsor/Essex County quality meats from local sources. Jamie, who grew up in the area, but left to work with one of top butcher shops in the GTA has returned to Windsor/Essex County, and we’re fortunate to have him back. He’s currently running a local meat share program which you can learn more about from his website at JamieWaldron.com

He’s a guru when it comes to meat, and he’s an expert when standing at the butcher’s block.

And much like our Beer Club – We want to bring you not only an evening of delicious food, but knowledge from people who specialize and excel in specific areas. We bring in the best, you show up, and we’ll take care of the rest.

You’ll actually witness Jamie in action breaking down a side of pork, and introducing us to the various primal cuts. (And for those of you wondering if you need to wear a hasmat suit and galoshes… no, we’re not slaughtering a pig before your eyes, the animal will be ready-to-butcher…)

Our goal for the evening is for us all to leave with a better understanding and appreciation of where our meat really comes from, taking the mystery out of choosing the right meat for dinner, and the art and skill of butchery.

Meanwhile,  back in the Jack’s kitchen, our team will be preparing a 4-course pork-heavy, and thankfully so, tasting dinner for guests to enjoy during the evening. You’ll also enjoy a carefully chosen and paired glass of wine or beer with your meal.
